Frequency of visits (per week) and length of service (in weeks or months) is based on your family’s needs.
*If you are only looking for practical help, we would suggest a nanny, cleaner, or household assistant, as doula care includes expertise in the full spectrum of postpartum recovery and therefore extends well beyond an extra set of hands.
How to pay for a
doula:
Not sure how to pay for doula services? This is a great topic and an important question, and we welcome the opportunity to chat with you about it.
We currently accept private payment from clients, and we work with clients who have Maven or Carrot insurance.
We do not currently accept Medicaid or other insurance. Should this change in the future, we will update our website.
Have you tried all of these?
Add Birth and Postpartum Doula Services to your baby gift registry - registries like Little Honey Money can help!
If your parents or close friends and family want to know how they can support you in birth and recovery, tell them you would like to hire a birth and postpartum doula, and we can work with them directly on invoicing.
Call your insurance company - some insurance companies are starting to cover doula services as part of their medical benefits. Ask what they cover and what information they need, and we may be able to modify our invoices so that you can get reimbursed (after paying us directly).
Use your Health Care Spending Account funds!
Doula services are now covered by Medicaid in NY! We won’t be able to be your doula, but there are many Medicaid doulas listed here.
If you have exhausted all of the above, ask us about 3rd & 4th payment plans.
Still not sure? Let us know when you contact us and we’ll include this in our intro chat.
Let’s chat! I am looking forward to hearing from you!
